It’s that time of year again when game developers celebrate and announce new games! The 2019 Game Awards will take place on Thursday the 12th. December was broadcast at 5:30 pm PT / 7:30 pm CT / 8:30 pm ET. You can find the full press release below, including the game’s nominees:
OFFICIAL CONFESSION:
The Game Awards announced their 2019 nominations today at the annual Video Game and Airport Awards ceremony. The list contains an eclectic mix of 107 different individual and collective games, covering all corners of PC, console, mobile, VR/AR, indie, esports and content/streamers. Nominees will be announced at an awards ceremony on Thursday, 12. December, at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles at 5:30 p.m. PT honored.
The Game Awards, which attracted more than 30 million viewers in 2018 and was dubbed the New York Times Oscars for gaming, brings together game industry creators, sports champions, digital influencers and Hollywood names for an evening of awards, exclusive world premieres of games, commercials and musical performances, including the return of the Game Awards Orchestra, led by renowned composer Lorne Balfe.
This year’s Game of the Year nominees are: Control, Death Stranding, Super Smash Bros, Resident Evil 2 and Sekiro: The shadows die twice and the outer worlds. Other notable games with at least 3 nominations include Apex Legends, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Disco Elysium, Final Fantasy XIV, Fortnite, Gris, Outer Wilds and Sayonara Wild Hearts. In the non-sexist performance category, three actresses compete with three actors. Early nominees included studios with independent titles such as Baba is You, Katana is Zero, Good Words, Sea of Solitude and Untitled Goose Play.
Fans can help select winners in all categories through authenticated online voting at www.thegameawards.com and Google. Don’t forget to check out the TGA poll on Google to vote before Wednesday the 11th. December, to vote. In China, fans can vote for their favorites on Bilibili.
The Game Awards, which this year celebrates its fifth anniversary, will be broadcast live and free of charge on more than 60 global media platforms. Cinemark’s 53 cinemas in the United States will also host a special one-night film event featuring the world premiere of Jumanji, produced by Sony Pictures, which will be broadcast live as part of the Game Awards: The next level.
