The Acer Iconia Tab A500, which we reviewed here, has had a price drop. You can pick up the 16GB model for $399, and the 32GB model for $449.99. This now puts the Acer in line with the ASUS Transformer by having a model available for that $399 price point, which seems to be a sweet spot for consumers. Most contribute the success of ASUS’ Honeycomb tablet to its price point, and many criticized the Motorola XOOM for being expensive.
While the A500 is mostly standard Android tablet, being 10.1″ and having a dual-core 1Ghz Tegra 2 processor, it does have something the ASUS does not. This would be a microUSB and full size USB port on the device. It also has an SD-card slot, and HDMI port. Only the Toshiba Thrive compares port wise to the A500, but now the A500 is less money for comparable storage options.
Retailers offering the new pricing: Amazon.com, TigerDirect, Newegg, J&R, Beach Camera
