The first Honeycomb tablet on the scene has just gotten a price drop. Most retailers are now selling the Motorola XOOM for just $499. This is for the WiFi-only 32GB version of the tablet. This now puts the device cheaper then most 32GB offerings from other companies, and matches the ASUS Transformer with its 32GB model. Most others are charging $549-$599 just as the XOOM was priced at before this drop.

While the XOOM may be bulkier then the new Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, the device is well built. It also has USB and HDMI ports, something some of the other tablets do not (some have one, or neither of these). Most are speculating that the price drop is happening before Motorola releases an updated version of the XOOM.
