Archos officially unveiling Gen9 line of tablets on June 23.
Archos announced their Gen 9 tablets back in March, promising a June release. A lot has changed for the Android tablet market since then. Archos has normally been a low cost Android tablet maker, but they provided good value for your dollar. Their Archos 101 which runs Android 2.2 is still the lightest 10.1″ tablet on the market. Now they have stated they will officially unveil their Gen9 line of Android tablets on June 23.
These are expected to be running Android 3.0 (Honeycomb), which would be a first for Archos. Since Honeycomb isn’t open sourced yet, our guess would be that Google has chosen them to be part of their “select’ manufactures to have access. This would also mark the first time Archos’ tablet officially have the Android Market. With the Asus Transformer being a success priced at $399, it will be interesting how well Archos does with these new line of tablets.
