Toshiba’s tablet to be called ANT and start at $449?
Newegg has posted listings for the upcoming Honeycomb tablet by Toshiba. In the listing they call the tablet the “ANT”, up until now the Toshiba tablet had no official moniker. This could just be a shortening of Android Tablet that Newegg decided on their own, or this could be the official name. We don’t know that answer to that yet, but what we do know is that the listing for the 8GB version starts at just $449. The 16GB is $499, and the 32GB is $579.
This is some more aggressive pricing for upcoming Honeycomb tablets, bucking the trend of expensive Android tablets that the original Galaxy Tab and Motorola XOOM tried to start. We hope this continues. The other specs for the Toshiba tablet are pretty much similar to most of the Honeycomb tablets announced. 10.1″ inch 1280×800 screen, 1Ghz dual-core Tegra 2 processor. Not a whole lot to set it apart, but maybe you just prefer the name Toshiba on your tablet.
