While the BlackBerry PlayBook will not ship with native apps for BlackBerry Email, Calendar, and Messenger, it seems they will come at some point down the line. Right now to use these apps you have to bridge your PlayBook with your BlackBerry phone. You can also use non-BlackBerry apps, or the web for email and calendar.

The information that the native apps will come was from a FAQ provided during a Verizon webinar to educate their employees on the upcoming Blackberry PlayBook tablet. Not sure why they are making this move, it may be so they can find a way to better secure these apps within the QNX OS, since the PlayBook doesn’t run BlackBerry OS. Blackberry devices have always been known for their security, and this is the reason that they have flourished in the enterprise market.
