Samsung has announced the price and details for the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 and 10.1 Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) tablets. Samsung has really taken the Apple iPad release seriously and has come up with what look to be some great tablets. Both tablets are .33-inches thick, just a hair thinner then the iPad 2. The 10.1 will weigh 1.3 pounds and the 8.9 will be just 1.03 pounds. Both units will have dual camera, MicroSD slots, Sim card slots, and come in WiFi-only versions. Both tablets also run dual-core 1Ghz processors.

Both tablets will be available in 16Gb and 32GB versions. Samsung has announced at CTIA 2011 that the price for the Galaxy Tab 8.9 will be $469 for the 16GB, and $569 for the 32GB. The 10.1 will be $499 for the 16GB, and $599 for the 32GB. These are the WiFi-only versions. The 10.1 will be released June 8th, and the 8.9 is expected early this summer (no official date).

Their Honeycomb tablets will have a version of their TouchWiz UI called TouchWiz 4.0, and will feature what they call L!ve Panels. Looks like we will see customization on Honeycomb tablets. Lets hope that they are worth the effort, and improve upon Honeycomb. The tablet version of TouchWiz will initially not ship on the new Galaxy Tab line, but will be included in a later update. It looks like Samsung has really stepped up their game ,and are offering some exciting new tablets at a great price point.
