WiFi only Samsung Galaxy Tab coming April 4th?

The Samsung Galaxy Tab was released back in November and was availabl in Wifi/3G version from most of the cellular carriers in the USA. A WiFi only version was promised but still hasn’t hit the market. Droid-Life received a tip that the WiFi version is going to be available come April 4th for the price tag of $399.
The curious position you have now is that over the next few months tablets featuring better specs and the tablet version of Android will become more available. Right now the Galaxy Tab is the best 7 inch tablet available on the whole. But it’s hardware is dated with only a single-core processor, and it only runs Android 2.2 (Froyo). There is no promise that the Galaxy Tab will be updated to Android 3.0 (Honeycomb), so you would have to expect that unless you are going to root and modify, you will be stuck with Froyo. Right now only the Motorola XOOM features Honeycomb, and costs $599 on-contract or $799 off-contract for the 3G(upgradable to 4G) version.
I think that $399 is still not the sweet spot for the WiFi Galaxy Tab. At $299 I think it would be a no brainier for someone to pick up as their first tablet. For me, why pay $399 when the 16GB WiFi iPad 2 is just $499, unless you really hate Apple. Hopefully Samsung has taken some time to rethink this price before they release next month.
