Rumor has it that Windows 8 tablets using ARM processors could be out before the years end. Business Insider’s sources claim that Microsoft has thousands of engineers which have been working on the ARM version of Windows 8. It has already been leaked that Windows 8 will be more tablet-centric and touch friendly.

Complaints about Windows 7 tablets have primary been two main things. It’s unfriendly touch nature, and poor battery life. These are the precise two things that Windows 8 will combat. The ability for Windows 8 to run on ARM processors should give it the ability to match Android and Apple tablets with their 10 hours or more battery lives.

I have been of the thought that for Microsoft to gain any significant ground in the tablet realm they need to have Window 8 tablets out before the end of 2011. The Apple iPad 2 and Android Honeycomb tablets will be in full force this summer, and Microsoft will fall out of the public conscience when it come to tablets if they wait until into 2012 to have them out.
