Personally I don't see this as being a problem. Even if you don't have a blackberry you will still get your mail on your phone like you would anyway and respond on your phone like you would anyway.

Commenting on both your postings.. There will not be an APP for that. That is what is being said here. There will not be a native APPS (Like iPad, iPhone, and Android) for these services to run on the BlackBerry PlayBook. You will only be able to access your EMAIL and Calender from the WEB, or you must be tethered to your BB phone. This is great for those that have a BB phone, but might make people who don't think twice about buying the device initially.

What was Iphone's amazing email and calendar app when it first came out???? oh, it didn't have one. There was an app for that. How about the Ipad?....same thing. Guess what, you can immediately add any apps you want to the Playbook, including email, calendar, etc. No need to access them with the browser.

Did you ask the same question of Ipad? The Ipad came out a year ago without any of the Blackberry features yet people still bought it. Why did they do that? They couldn't even connect their Iphones to the Ipad to give it 3G connectivity. They had to buy an additional 3G data plan. What a waste. The reason that RIM is "bothering" with the Playbook is because they have made a better tablet. Better for companies and their employees, and better for consumers. More power, less weight, more portability, more options, better in every category. Companies that already use RIM's BES service via the BB smartphones that their employees use will find this a tremendous enhancement to their current mobile communication and mobile computing needs. Companies who aren't already Blackberry customers now have even more incentive to get on the Blackberry train. Your comment totally boggles the mind.

It is my opinion that Blackberry is targeting business professionals and corporations with the Playbook. The Playbook will be a productivity extension for their smart-phones. I wouldn't be shocked to see e-mail and calendar in the future as application in their apps library to market this device to regular consumers.
