Sharp plans on bringing their Galapagos e-reader/tablet devices from Japan to the USA sometime in early 2011. They also plan on launching their Galapagos content service here in the USA also. The USA is the first place Sharp plans to introduce their new service to, hoping to secure book publishers and similar content providers with content being provided in the EPUB file format.

Rumor is that the devices which range from 5 to 10 inches will have Wifi and 3G capabilities when released here, in Japan they are currently Wifi only. Some Sharp devices have made their way through the FCC’s hands already so it could be very quickly that we see these available. No word on final specs or pricing at this time. India and China are rumored to be getting these devices just after the USA does.
